First Encounters - Deadline Jan 30, 2009

Write about the first time you encountered something or someone new. You can also do this as a history project and write something that relates to the “first encounters” experienced when Samuel de Champlain came upon Lake Champlain 400 years ago.

    First encounters.

    The Iroquois Indians of New York and the Algonquian Indians of New England, fought for the land now called the green mountain state, Vermont. Samuel D. Champlain was the first European explorer to come to Vermont and explore the area. In 1616 found the lake that is now named after Samuel, Lake Champlain!
