This blog was created to give CES students information about the YWP prompts. Students from CES may submit their writing here to get feedback from their peers and when they are ready, may turn it over for submission to the YWP site.
The YWP web site, www.youngwritersproject.org, where registered students post writing, respond to prompts, receive and give respectful feedback, read tips on writing, post audio stories, engage in online workshops and discuss books, news and life.
What the "Deadline" means
Because submissions are due to be posted at youngwritersproject.org by Friday at 3pm:

One night I was falling asleep in my bed when my brother yelled at a video game and suddenly, I was wide awake! Then, when I was about to fall asleep again, my parents woke me up because the TV was too loud! And this was on Christmas Eve! That was so ANNOYING!!
ReplyDeleteWhat really annoys me is when I am doing something and my sister says, “Take me for a ride on the snowmobile”. And I have to do it because my parents say I have to it all the time. So as you can see it gets really annoying. It is not fun to be annoyed.

ReplyDeleteMy little sister is so annoying when I go somewhere she follows me .It is so annoying .One time I was on the phone and I went in my room she followed me and was annoying .I don’t get annoyed fast, but my little sister will get anybody annoyed fast especially me.

It is just so long and sounds so different!
It is SO annoying!
All other long words fit in but, annoying doesn’t!
I can’t stand saying it, either.
What other word means the same as annoying but doesn’t sound like it?
It is like annoying is the only word to describe what is annoying!
It is SO annoying!
But when I say it in a phrase it fits in like a pirate’s day!
Some people can annoy me but not as much as the word ANNOYING!
That is the end of my poem “annoying” but it bugs me because it has too many annoyings.

Even though I LOVE my puppy Eloise, she can be really annoying. Especially at night time, because one time I was having a sleepover and Eloise usually sleeps downstairs but this time she tried to sleep upstairs. So she came up the stairs and I could hear light taps coming down the hallway. Of course she goes to the closest room, my room. I heard some meows from the cats as she did her best to ANNOY the cats. She came in and of course we are sleeping on the floor since you would only sleep 1 hour if you slept in Eloise town down stairs. So she came into my room and she jumped on me and I was asleep before she came in. AND I THINK THAT IS REALLY ANNOYING!!!!!!!
Bernadette- I know how much you love Eloise, but now that I have read your piece, I can tell that even she can get to you! To help strengthen your piece, I think you could take your second sentence and make it into two more powerful sentences. Since this is a free style piece, you could emphasize your point about when she is annoying, by making your second sentence "Especially at night time." And then starting your vignette with "One time..."

ReplyDeleteTHAT IS SO ANNOYING
I have this family member and she is SO ANNOYING. She always repeats herself over and over and over and over again. For example one time my dog/Bandit had to go out and so he was sitting at the door barking like crazy. All she did was sat there and said want to go out, want to go out, want to go out. It is SO ANNOYING. If you were me she would drive you crazy.
Natasha- Thank you for posting. I can almost hear your voice in this piece about repetition. It is short and sweet, but you can tell that this particular habit drives you crazy!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great opportunity here for comma and quotation use!
COMMAS: When you give the example about your dog, you give your readers a little bit of extra information; you tell us his name.
A comma is placed before and after a word or phrase that renames or gives more information about the noun before it. An example is: Mrs. Lutz, our neighbor, gave mom the recipe.
DIALOGUE: Any place you use dialogue, you should use quotation marks. When that person is saying "you wanna go out?" over and over, use quotation marks!

ReplyDeleteI can tell how your sister really annoys you.
Remember, when placing your periods at the end of each sentence, they need to go right after the last letter in the sentence. For example, in your second sentence,"It is so annoying.", notice where I placed the period.

ReplyDeleteWhat I think is annoying is that whenever I am watching TV, my sister will come in and just randomly start talking, and won’t stop. That is what I find so annoying!

That is so annoying What was so annoying was when I was in fourth grade, this kid in my class would not stop talking. He would always get me distracted and stop me from doing my work. That would always get me in trouble. That kid in my class, he would get in trouble all the time. Then I started to ignore him, and he would go to another person. And that’s what’s annoying.

He is annoying because whenever I’m on the computer he comes and sits right next to me and he says, “Can you go to Myspace for a minute?” I say no. He says “Pleeease!” I say nothing he says I’ll be your buddy and give you a hug!” I say no. He says, “Fine be that way!” I say OK I will! Then I just go back to what I was doing on the computer, and he goes into his room and plays wii fit. That is what really annoys me
I think that it is so annoying when I go to Campers Ville and my cousins won’t leave me alone. So I can’t go hang out with my friends and my sister, she is also stuck with me too. I mean come on, I am 11 and they are both about 5 years younger than me so I should be able to go and live my life. Then when we want to go off to the dance or to see some of our other friends we can’t because my dad won’t let us because of my cousins. Except we still do because my mom its us and we just answer to her. Also when we are there, there are other kids that I know but don’t really like or want to hang out with who won’t leave us alone. So really even though I think these things are all so annoying I still like going to Campers Ville.

ReplyDeleteAt school, I was writing and then a trucks alarm started going off. The sound was so annoying and distracting. Also it was annoying because I was trying to think.
Yesterday my parents and my sister and I went shopping for the super bowl I picked up something and my sister Naya said “Do you always think about yourself?” This started to make me mad. Then, she knocked over sponges with her cart and my parents and Naya had to pick everything. Also, they had to pick up a razor for my brothers. All that time I was just standing there and waiting. I was feeling frustrated, bored, and annoyed.

I get annoyed from the constant beeping when big trucks are backing up. That beeping is really annoying. I get annoyed when I can’t do something I want to do. I get annoyed when I can’t get something I want to get. I get annoyed in school.
My sisters really annoy me. When I visit them, they talk a lot. It annoys me really bad. My parents annoy me too. Who annoys you?

ReplyDeleteOkay, toughest question on the math homework, I got it! The answer is… “Ding, Ding, Done” Oh, the stupid clock again! “Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.” Now I lost my train of thought! Mom! Can you turn the clock off! “No Sky, I like that clock.” OUG!
5 minutes later:
I got my homework done… Oh goodie! The Jetsons are on! “Ding, Ding, Done” Oh not the clock again! “Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.” Now it’s the break and I didn’t see anything! Mom! Got rid of that clock! “No, that clock means a lot to me.” OUG!
10:00 p.m., Dreaming:
No, Mr. Smikiedotle, I don’t want a nizzle fizzie pop… “Ding, Ding, Done...” What, who?...THE STUPID CLOCK AGAIN!!!! “Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.” Wait! I’m not going to ask. OUG!
Yesterday, my brother, E.J., annoyed me by taping my shoulder and saying my name over, and over, again. I hadn’t gotten out of bed yet, or even woken up when he started doing that. That’s one of the most annoying things for me.
ReplyDeleteI know a dog who chews EVERYTHING. She almost chewed a table. One time I was at her house, and she chewed my shoes. . She is a mutt. One time I was sleeping at her house it was 12:30 am, she was barking and howling so they brought her out side. But that did not stop her she was barking and howling even louder IT IS SO ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat really annoys me is the “beep beep beep beep” of a big truck when it’s backing up. Also living in a family with 5 kids is annoying, and there's a list that could go on & on & on. About things that are annoying here’s just one that’s annoying: You’re trying to concentrate and you hear “ME –WIN!!!” It’s your big sister.

Do you know what is annoying? Well I will tell you my next-door neighbor has 17 little baby pugs and they will not be quiet! Every time when I get home I always try to take a nap and I can’t because those dogs won’t stop barking.

ReplyDeleteWhat really annoys me is sarcasm. When people are saying something that others think is supposed to be meant nicely, but you can hear it in their voice that it wasn’t meant the way that it was said. One time that someone has been sarcastic was when we were playing a game and my team wasn’t doing so great and a person on the other team said “its okay you’re doing good” and the teacher’s all were all thinking that it was meant to be nice, but my team and I knew that it wasn’t. There was this little part of that person’s voice that sold it. So for all of you sarcastic people out there, including me, it is not always what you say, but how you say what you are saying is what really matters.
Bernadette.-CES Do you know what annoys me? Well what annoys me is when someone copies me all the time and everything I do she and/or he does it the same way. Especially when she and/or he like the same things and acts like she and/or he like the thing better. THAT IS WHAT I THINK IS ANNOYING!!!!

ReplyDeleteSisters can be very annoying. My sister is the worst ever. Sometimes she is alright but not all the time. This one time I was wrestling with her and she pushed me off the bed and my knee hit me in the mouth
And my lip was bleeding. That is why she is annoying but I still love her

That Is So Annoying
Sisters are awesome to have but they are always in your business you can’t walk or talk without them being right there. It is so annoying. They follow you around like you are a super model or something. When you’re trying to talk on the phone or write in your diary there always there, when you say go away they have a mysterious look on there face it is so annoying. When you get a present for a holiday they say it’s theirs, it is so annoying. When you are watching a movie and they shut it off or change it its so annoying. Your playing video games they change there mind they don’t want to watch you play they want to watch Dora ITS SO ANNOYING

THAT REALLY ANNOYS ME
I had a friend named Jacob. He had a sister named Madison. She was so annoying that if you new her you would want to pull your hair out of your head. We could not play for a second without her butting in. She would also ask if we can play with her every second.
That’s what really annoys me.
