This blog was created to give CES students information about the YWP prompts. Students from CES may submit their writing here to get feedback from their peers and when they are ready, may turn it over for submission to the YWP site.
The YWP web site, www.youngwritersproject.org, where registered students post writing, respond to prompts, receive and give respectful feedback, read tips on writing, post audio stories, engage in online workshops and discuss books, news and life.
What the "Deadline" means
Because submissions are due to be posted at youngwritersproject.org by Friday at 3pm:
-Handwritten submissions due to Ms. Sexton or Mrs. Dinnan by Thursday at 3pm.
-Blogged submissions posted to site by Friday at 2:30pm.

Once upon a time there was a cat named Bob that got stuck in a tree. His owner passed out. Someone got him down before she got up and when she woke up, he was down from the tree. Then she said, “Was my cat stuck in that tree or not?”
ReplyDeleteOne day there was a little girl. She wanted to go outside but it was raining so she could not go outside. So she waited and waited for the rain to stop. It took a long time. Finally it stopped. She looked outside and was not raining. So she went outside and played in the puddles and she got wet.
ReplyDeleteIt was 8:00 at night, “Kelvey, time to go to bed,” said my mom. Ok, I said. So I climb up the stairs, brushed my teeth and hopped into bed. My mom said “do you want me to tell you a bedtime story?” I said yes. So she stared telling me the story. “Once, there was an elf, his name was Little Lary. Little Lary worked, and worked and worked all day long. He did not mind working but he just wanted a little vacation. So, the next day Little Lary went to his boss and asked. The next day, Little Lary was packed and ready to leave. All the elves said, “Good bye Little Lary!”
ReplyDeleteThere was a cat that had no shoes. He takes peoples’ shoes and borrows them. Then he wanted his own shoes. He wanted rat shoes. He went in a rat hole, stole a rat’s shoes, and got out of the rat hole. Only to find out that the rat called the police. They grabbed him, took the shoes, and put him in jail. When they let him go he went back to borrowing shoes.

ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time there was a beautiful Fluffy white cat and her name was of course, Fluffy. One day when Fluffy was eating, (by the way fluffy is a vegetarian so she only eats green vegetables) her owner, Lindsey said if she ate one more green vegetable she would turn green! But Fluffy just shook her head. Lindsey had had it with Fluffy! So she decided to pull a little prank on Fluffy. Then the next day when Fluffy went outside for her daily walk around the house and just as she was about to go around the corner of the house, SPLOOSH! Down came a lime green paint that landed all over Fluffy! Lindsey came out and said “oh look Fluffy you’re green!” Fluffy realized that Lindsey set this up and Fluffy got very angry. Lindsey said “ok fine it was me, lets go inside and I’ll give you a bath” while Lindsey was washing Fluffy she noticed that the paint wasn’t coming out. She mumbled to herself, “I must’ve bought permanent paint.” Then Lindsey dried off Fluffy as if she was white again. But just as Fluffy went to lick herself she saw green fur! And the paint has never come out since the paint was dumped. That is how the cat turned green.
Once upon a time there was a friendly dragon. He lived in a mountain. Sometimes he would blow fire on a big tube filled with water. When he blew fire it would steam. Where it met the outside world, it would turn into a big hot tub.
ReplyDeleteI think that the moon got in the sky because there were stars. All of the other stars had shapes, but one star did not. Then that star wanted to be a circle. But the circle was already taken so that star killed the other star. That star became big and the star who wanted to be the circle took the light. That is how the other star died. Then the other star knocked the star out of the sky.That is how the moon got in the sky.

ReplyDeleteThe sea is blue because one day the sun was bright yellow and the sky was blue but the sea had no color at all. It couldn't make its own color, it had to mimic one. So, it sat there, colorless and glum. One day came where the sky noticed the sea had no color. So the sky said, "You can have some of my color if you give me some of yours." The sea agreed, and the sky gave the sea some color to have and the sea gave the sky the sky white puff things to hide behind for some sleep.

Once upon a time there was two kids named Kyle and Makayla they where very nice kids. Kyle is Makayla’s older brother he is 12 and Makayla is 5.It was a sunny summer day and Makayla wants Kyle to play dress up “that sounds fun Makayla but no thanks” He said she got very sad. How about we play school instead Makayla loves playing school she jumped up and down yah this is going to be so fun. Kyle was teaching Makayla about colors. What color is the grass he said it is green the color grandma turns when she gets mad Said Makayla. Why is the grass green Kyle? I think because it is a strong beautiful color and it looked just right on the ground people say that god made that choice and made the hole world. Oh said Makayla that's pretty cool. How did make the world? I can't answer that no one knows that he said. Maybe but I don't think super powers are real said Kyle. Yes they are said Makayla really mad! Ok he said. You bet ok and Gods super powers better be pink, cause thats my favorite color, pink.

ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time there was a big chunk of land. It was not an island, because it was too big, but a man lived there. His family had left him and he was all alone.
One day, he was making dinner when he heard two knocks on the door. When he went to the door he found a boy there with a guitar on his back. He said to the man, "I can grant you one wish." The man wished that his family would come home.
So the boy started to play his guitar really loudly and there was a flash of light. Not just his family came back, but a city was created at his feet. Years later, people would call it New York City.
